Hi there, and welcome to L & S Farms!
We’re Lynn and Shery Tiemeyer, and we’re so glad you stopped by. Our farm is tucked away just a couple miles north of Starve Hollow State Park in Vallonia, Indiana. If you’re ever in the area, we hope you’ll come visit — we’re about an hour from both Indianapolis and Louisville, and just a stone’s throw from some beautiful camping spots.
Our story isn’t fancy — just full of hard work, faith in the strength of our family, and a love for farming that’s been growing for nearly 50 years. Lynn started farming when he was about 10 years old, and Shery became a farm girl at 21 when she married into it. Farming has always been Lynn’s dream, though he did take a detour to serve 6 years in the U.S. Navy, with time spent in California, Scotland, South Carolina, and Kentucky.
To support our love for farming, we both worked full-time off the farm for many years — Lynn as a long-haul trucker, and Shery as a registered nurse and case manager. Even with busy lives, we always came back to the farm, because that’s where our hearts are.
Over the years, we’ve raised hogs, grown produce, and run a cow/calf operation with our Angus-cross cattle. These days, we focus on what works best for our land and our lifestyle. It’s a little less labor-intensive, but still just as rewarding. We also sell farm-fresh eggs from our free-range hens, DNR-approved firewood, and LP gas tanks and refills — a real convenience for local folks and campers headed to the park.
We’re proud to offer high-quality freezer beef — whether you want just a few steaks or a full bundle for the season. Our cattle are grass-fed and grain-finished, giving our beef the rich marbling and deep flavor our customers love. People drive from Columbus, Indianapolis, Louisville, and beyond because they know they’re getting meat they can trust. It’s the same beef we feed our own family, and that matters to us.
One thing we’ve always loved about this life is that we’ve gotten to do most of it side by side. Next March, we’ll celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary — and there’s no better way we can imagine marking that than by continuing to work together on the land we love.
Our hope is that when you buy from L & S Farms, you feel good about your choice. We want you to feel secure, knowing that we care deeply about the quality of our beef and everything else we offer. We’re working hard to make it even easier to support local by building an online store, creating a subscription service for meat bundles, and sharing more of our farm life with you.
