Description

Premium Beef Suet from L & S Farms

Our beef suet comes from cattle we’ve raised for nearly 50 years on our Southern Indiana farm in Vallonia. This is the hard, pure fat from around the kidneys and loins, prized by traditional cooks and homesteaders for its versatility and quality.

What Makes Our Suet Special: Our suet comes from grass-fed, grain-finished Angus X cattle raised right here at L & S Farms in Vallonia, Indiana, located between Indianapolis and Louisville. This is clean, white fat with a high melting point, perfect for countless uses. No hormones or unnecessary additives, just pure beef fat from cattle we know and care for.

Great For: Traditional British cooking like suet puddings and dumplings, rendering into beef tallow for frying and cooking, making homemade soap and candles, bird feeders that attract woodpeckers and other songbirds, deep frying for crispy results, and pie crusts with incredible flaky texture.

Cooking Tip: To render suet into tallow, cut into small pieces and cook slowly in a heavy pot or slow cooker until the fat melts. Strain through cheesecloth and store in jars. Beef tallow has a high smoke point and is excellent for high-heat cooking. For bird suet, mix melted suet with seeds, nuts, and dried fruit, then let it harden in molds.
